Maps With Meanings
All British place-names, throughout history.
Your County and Country,
Originally.
What the Maps With Meanings Project Is
Are you proud of where you live?
Do you wish you knew its history better?
Would you like your home to display both an artwork, and an education, which tells the fascinating story of your region, in one beautiful document?
Maps With Meanings is a large concept built on a simple idea: to provide old-style maps of every English county, with the place-names written as they actually meant, originally. For example, Whitby is written 'The White Village', and Canterbury as 'The Stronghold of the People of Edge Land.'
Each map is the result of extensive research I've undertaken since 2014, and provides a unique historical document that makes a fascinating point of interest in any room. Maps are sized either A3, printed on parchment ('old-looking') card, or A2 on white card, and also incorporate prints of two of my original artworks, showing distinctive views in the county.
Each map costs £20 (A3), or £45 (A2), which includes packing in a rigid tube, and an extra sheet on which the names are explained. Both are available via my online shop
Please contact me via the next page on this site. I have a number of counties already completed, and if yours is one as-yet undone, I will prioritise it, so you too can own a piece of this fascinating - and unique - project, as soon as possible.
